Margaret Lucero, 82 of Upper Anton Chico, NM died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at her home following an illness. Margaret was born July 19, 1925 in Starksville, Colorado to the home of Simon and Seferina (Abeyta) Montoya. She is preceded in death by her husband Arturo on December 16, 2007; her father Simon in 1954, her mother Seferina in 1974 and a granddaughter Seferina Ortiz in 1993. Survivors include three sons Fred Martinez and wife Sylvia of Tecolotito, NM; Henry Lucero of Upper Anton Chico; and Julian Lucero and wife Faye of Cheraw, Colorado; five daughters Gloria Gonzales and husband Bernadino of Fabens, TX; Diane Valencia and husband George of Anton Chico; Shirley Jaquez of Codopoxi, Colorado; Darlene Westbay of Phoenix, AZ and Lorraine Ortiz and husband Jesse of Fort Sumner, NM. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; two sisters Jenny Garcia of Pueblo, Colorado and Mary Mendoza of Pueblo, Colorado along with numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. A public viewing will be held at the Chavez Funeral Home from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Thursday, March 13, 2008. Cremation will follow. A joint memorial service and interment of the cremated remains for Margaret and Arturo Lucero will be held at the family home in Upper Anton Chico at 11:00 am Saturday, March 15, 2008.
