Josie Madrid passed away Monday, August 11, 2008 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM at the age of 83. She was born in Puerto de Luna, NM. As homemaker, Josie devoted her life to caring for her family. Any given day she could be found cooking, cleaning, or sewing. In the summer she would make preserves from the various fruit trees in the backyard. Josie is survived by her husband of 62 years Blas Madrid, daughters Catherine Madrid-Ochoa and her husband Rudolfo of Tucson, AZ, Patricia Lopez and her husband Horacio Lopez of Santa Rosa, NM, Maida Delgado and her husband Orlando of Albuquerque, NM, and Cecilia Madrid of Topeka, KS; grandchildren Benjamin Delgado and his wife Geri of Albuquerque, NM, Michael Campos and his wife Dolores of Tucson, AZ, Tana Trujillo and her husband Alfonso of Albuquerque, NM, Robert Lopez of Phoenix, AZ, Orlando A. Delgado of Albuquerque, NM, Melissa Campos Lee and her husband Scott Lee Tucson, AZ, Santiago Delgado and his wife Victoria of Albuquerque, NM, Andrea Salazar of Albuquerque, NM, and James Tharp of Topeka, KS; 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends. Preceded in death by her parents Espiridion Abeyta and Isabel Duran Abeyta; sister Juanita Abeyta; brothers Eduardo Abeyta, Emilio Abeyta, Lucio Abeyta, Abelino Abeyta, Pedro Abeyta, and Tomas Abeyta; and infant son Joe Madrid. She is also preceded in death by half brothers and sisters: Abran, Agapito, Andres, Casimiro, Dolores, Josefa & Juan Abeyta. Rosary services will be held on Thursday, August 14, at 7:00 from St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 15, at 10:00 AM also from St. Rose Church.
