Mildred A. Crenshaw

Mildred Alice Crenshaw, 94 of Taiban, NM passed away on November 25, 2007 at the Farwell Convalescent Center in Farwell, Texas. Mildred was born November 23, 1913 in Olustee, Oklahoma to the home of Roy Wright and the former Carrie Wilson Wright. She was one of six children. The family moved to Roaring Springs, Texas before settling in Floyd, NM where Mildred attended Floyd schools. Mildred was an outstanding basketball player for the Floyd Bronco’s. Upon graduation she enrolled at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM. Mildred married Bill Crenshaw on August 12, 1936 in Melrose, NM. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner. Bill and Mildred made their home at Taiban, NM in 1946 where they ranched for many years. Mildred enjoyed bowling and sewing. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill Crenshaw on February 9, 2006; her parents, two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include one son Billy Crenshaw and wife Sylvia of Taiban, NM; three grandchildren, Wilann Griego and husband Jim of Portales, NM; Becky Shafer of Portales, NM and Glen Crenshaw and wife Willene of Taiban, NM. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren Krystle Barton and husband Bart of Lubbock, TX; Devan Griego and Kenna Shafer of Portales, NM; Blake and LaNay Crenshaw of Taiban, NM; two great-great-grandchildren Reagan and Trey Barton of Lubbock, TX, and one sister Marie Nation of Portales, NM along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family prefers memorial contributions in memory of Mildred Crenshaw to the Baptist Children’s Home, P.O. Box 629, Portales, New Mexico 88130. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1PM to 6PM and Wednesday from 10AM to 1PM at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 28, 2007 from the Fort Sumner Cemetery in Fort Sumner, NM with Buddy Hall officiating. Pallbearers will be Glen Crenshaw, Blake Crenshaw, Jim Griego, Bart Barton, J.W. Wilson, and Jacky Gordon. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner, NM.
