Mercey Jade Cortese

Mercey Jade Cortese, age 3, of Fort Sumner, NM died Sunday, April 13, 2003 at M.D. Anderson Medical Center in Houston, TX following an illness. Mercey was born in Clovis, New Mexico on February 18, 2000. Mercey enjoyed dancing, singing, watching cartoons and posing for the camera. She will be dearly missed by her family. Survivors include her parents Arron and Tera Ann Cortese; maternal grandparents Shane and Michelle Voss; paternal grandparents Knox and Elaine Cortese all of Fort Sumner. An aunt Nicole Lucero and husband Petey their children Tristin, Mea, and Hailey; uncle Luke Cortese of Fort Sumner; uncle Mark Voss and wife Johnna and their children Kaitlin and Bonner of Truscott, TX; aunt Amanda Foote and husband Wes and their daughter Kaylee of Tucumcari, NM; and aunt Erin Voss of Fort Sumner. Paternal Great-grandparents Gerald Don and Lou Ann Cortese; and Melton and Mary Ann Saiz all of Fort Sumner; Maternal Great-grandparents Milton and Mary Ann Pfeifer of Port Lavaca, TX; and Mrs. Veda Voss of Clear Lake, Texas. Other survivors include a host of relatives and many good friends. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 18, 2003 from the Fort Sumner High School Gymnasium with Rev. Cheryl Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Knox Cortese, Shane Voss, Petey Lucero, and Mark Voss.
