Ada Mae Fox, 86 of Fort Sumner, NM died Monday, April 28, 2008 at Clovis Healthcare Center following an illness. Ada Mae was born September 20, 1921 in Pawhuska, Osage Indian Territory, Oklahoma to the home of Otis Monroe and Sarah Jane (Riley) Savage. In 1928 moved with her family to Fort Sumner, traveling in a Model T. Ada Mae attended Fort Sumner schools. She married J.D. Fox on January 22, 1938 in Fort Sumner. J.D. and Ada Mae purchased a home at Taiban, NM in 1943 where they also operated a grocery store and service station for 21 years. They purchased a farm in the Fort Sumner valley in 1966 where they made their home for many years. Ada Mae was a charter member of the Valley Quilting Club, a Past Matron of Eastern Star; and a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Fort Sumner. She was a member of The Church on The Hill in Fort Sumner. Ada Mae enjoyed sewing, quilting and working with ceramics. She also enjoyed visiting her family and friends. She had a great sense of humor and was a mentor to all her children and grandchildren. Ada Mae was preceded in death by her husband J.D. Fox in 1985; a son Otis Owen Fox in 2001; her parents; two brothers Ben Hines and Dan Savage and a niece Sharon Fraze. The Fox family matriarch is survived by a son Jimmy Fox of Bernardo, NM; two daughters Cloreta Hawk and husband Weldon of Clovis; Maurcenia Cross and husband Gary of Fort Sumner; two granddaughters D’Aun Whiteny and husband Byron of Litchfield Park, AZ; Jimmie Dee Fox of Fort Sumner; two grandsons Olen Douglass and wife LaTonne of Miami, TX and Eddy Douglass of Amarillo, TX; also surviving are six great grandchildren Ty Horn, LaShay Douglass, Jordan Douglass, Aislinn Douglass, Tell Montoya, Lane Douglass, Tanner Horn, several nieces, nephews other relatives and many good friends. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, May 2, 2008 from The Church on the Hill in Fort Sumner, NM with Sister Anna Teeter officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Richard Yardman, Olen Douglass, Eddy Douglass, Lane Douglass, Tanner Horn, Clay Labrier, Rodney Savage and Mack Dan Winn.
