Mary Lucy Gonzales, 72 of Bellingham, Washington and formerly of Clovis and Fort Sumner died Friday, June 08, 2007 at St. Francis Extended Healthcare in Bellingham. She was born October 31, 1934 in Lockhart, Texas to the home of Jesse Chavira and the former Angela Ramos. She was reared and attended schools in Ellensburg, Washington. She worked as a seasonal farm laborer. Mary married Jose B. Gonzales on May 21, 1951. She enjoyed knitting; crocheting, playing bingo was her favorite pastime. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jose B. Gonzales in 1999; sister Amelia C. Maciel in 1999 and a brother Mike Chavira in 2007. Survivors include two daughters JoAnn Chavria of Seattle, WA; Cecilia Alvarado of Salem, OR; two sons Jose B. Aragon of Fort Sumner and Jose B. Gonzales of Clovis; three sisters Francis C. Sepulveda of Seattle, WA; Minnie C. Alvarez of Bellingham, WA, Josie C. Morales of Tuppenish, WA; one brother Jesse Chavira of Bellingham, WA. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday from 2PM to 6PM and Monday from 10AM to 6PM at the funeral home. Rosary services will be held at 7PM Monday, June 11, 2007 from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 12, 2007 from the church with Father Jerry Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Roger Chavez, Sonny Aragon, David Aragon, Jose Aragon, Jose Gonzales, and Danny Hernandez. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 804 N.
