Della M. Sena, age 56, a prominent business women in Santa Rosa passed away June 29, 2000 at the Guadalupe County Hospital following an extended illness. Della was born October 30, 1943 in Fort Sumner, NM to the home of Daniel and Martina Lopez Montoya. She was reared and attended schools in Melrose and Fort Sumner. She married James H. Sena on January 7, 1961 in Fort Sumner. It is there where she and Jim started their Construction business. Jim and Della moved their family to Santa Rosa in 1979. During her time in Santa Rosa Della along with her husband Jim ran The Jim Sena Construction Company and the Tower Motel. Della was actively involved in the community where she served on the Chamber of Commerce board and later became president of the Chamber of Commerce and was involved in numerous activities for the community of Santa Rosa. She was a faithful member of the St. Rose of Lima Parish where she served as Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the America Court 2276 where she seved in numerous offices. She and her husband Jim were also strong supporters of the Knights of Columbus Council 5146 in Santa Rosa. Della supported her kids in all their activities, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, she enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, needlepoint, attending and having garage sales, doing arts and crafts and atteding softball games when she and Jim sponsored various teams. Della never met a person she never liked, she was kind and generous and would do anythning she could for anyone. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will truly be missed by all. Della is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Eugene Montoya, her daughter in law Luanna Sena, her brother in law Albaro Griego and a nephew Michael Griego. Survivors include her husband Jim Sena of the family home is Santa Rosa, her children Gene and wife Carla, Sylvia Saiz and husband Jeff, Carla Serrano and husband Derrick, James Jr. and wife Leslie, Eddie and wife Nancy and Francee Sena and fiancee Ernie Romero all of Santa Rosa, her brother Querino Montoya and wife Linda of Santa Rosa, and her sisters Rosa Sisneros and husband Lee of Tucumcari and Patricia Gallegos and husband Manuel of Portales. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, her mother and father in law Carlos T. and Christina Sena of Fort Sumner and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Saturday evening at 7:00 PM from St. Anthony's church in Fort Sumner. A second rosary will be held on Sunday evening at 7:00 from St. Rose Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday at 10:00 also from St. Rose Church with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating and Father Stephen Schultz concelebrating. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa. Serving as pallbearers are Raymond Griego, Daniel Montoya, Derrick Serrano, Jeff Saiz, Joe Sena and Willie Gonzales.
