Julia Isidora Baca, a resident of Santa Rosa for most of her life, passed away on December 16, 2004 at Paloma Blanca Health and Rehabilitation in Albuquerque, where she had been for last seven months. She had previously been at Health Unlimited, Inc. in Santa Rosa for several years. Julia died at the age of 95 having been born in Pastura, New Mexico on February 27, 1909. She was born to the home of Ricardo U. Baca and Gertrudes Martinez Baca, pioneer New Mexico ranchers. She had attended school at Pintada, New Mexico and Santa Rosa graduating from Santa Rosa High School. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Venancio Baca, Anacleto Baca, Cristino Baca and Liborio Baca; seven sisters; Demecia Baca, Honorata Baca, Victoriana Sanchez, Dome Baca, Amelia Bowling, Guadalupe Farley and Maria Rita Baca. Survivors include her son Lloyd Lindell Jayroe of Sterling, Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a lifetime member of the Catholic Church and belonged to the Sacred Heart Society. Rosary services will be recited on December 17, at 7:00 PM at Chavez Funeral Home Chapel led by Joe A. Martinez. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 18, at 10:00 from St. Rose Church with Father Irby Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Curt Colin Sanchez, Canuto Sanchez, Jr., Felipe L. Sanchez, Phil Sanchez, Kiel Hoffman and Tom Donegan. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
