Martha Othella Tuggle, 88 a resident of Fort Sumner, NM since 1995 died Tuesday, August 27, 2002 in the Pecos Valley Care Center following a short illness. Mrs. Tuggle was born March 21, 1914 in Vera, TX. She was reared and attended school at Vera. Martha married Elvin “Buddy” Tuggle in Sullivan, MO, they made their home at Fort Worth, TX until 1952 when they moved to Wayside, TX. Together they farmed at Wayside until 1989. They made their home at Tulia, TX for seven years before moving to Fort Sumner in 1995. Martha was a member of the Methodist Church at Wayside, TX where she taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed playing games, was according to her family “a major Dallas Cowboy fan”, who enjoyed all sports, and loved to fish and crochet. While living in Wayside she raised flowers and always had a beautiful vegetable garden. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed by her family. Martha was preceded in death by her husband Elvin “Buddy” Tuggle on March 21, 1998. two brothers Leroy Roberts, J.D. Roberts, and a sister Hazel Mulligan. Survivors include a daughter Sandy Paul and husband Jay of Fort Sumner, NM, two grandsons Buddy Hall and wife Shawn of Fort Sumner; Shannon Hall and wife Ronda of Loco, OK, four great-grandchildren Ryan and Lyndsey Hall of Fort Sumner and Whitney and Kadee Belle Hall of Loco, OK. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. (C.S.T.), Thursday, August 29, 2002 from the Wayside Community Church in Wayside, TX with Rev. Martin Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at Wayside Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Darrell Watson, Gale Watson, M.L. McGehee, Red Rodgers, Larry Stevens, and Gary Fred Sorelle. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1PM to 6PM at the Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner, NM. The family prefers memorials donations to the Wayside Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 155, Wayside, TX 79094 in memory of Martha O. Tuggle. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner, NM.
