Mary Naomi “Oma” Webb, 72 of Fort Sumner died Saturday, January 5, 2002 at her sister’s home in Roswell, NM following an illness. Oma was born November 8, 1929 in Frederick, Oklahoma to the home of Coy Dell Beverage and the former Emma Lee Hefner. She was reared and attended school at Elk, NM. Oma married Carl Edward Webb on July 21, 1947 at Roswell, NM. They made their home in Fort Sumner in 1960. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner. Oma worked as a food supervisor at the Pecos Valley Care Center in Fort Sumner for 21 years, and for several years at the Fort Sumner Senior Citizens Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Edward Webb in 1985, and an infant daughter Oma Carlene Webb. Survivors include three sons, Jerry Webb and wife Leticia of Fort Sumner; Terry Webb and wife Marsha of Fort Sumner; Tom Webb and wife Brandy of Fort Sumner, NM; two daughters Debra Solis and husband Ross of Denver City, TX; Sandra Tompkins of Blair, NE; two brothers Raymond Beverage and wife Mary of Albuquerque, NM; Phillip Beverage of Chino, CA; three sisters Malynda Beverage Webb of Roswell, NM; Beverly Beverage Thornton and husband Billy of Clayton, NC; and Phyllis Beverage Sykes and husband A.B. of Roswell, NM. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday from 1PM to 6PM and Tuesday from 10AM to 12 noon at the Chavez Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. from the First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner with Rev. Coy Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Aaron Harden, Jerry Paul Webb, Terry Webb Jr., Josh Webb, Gregg Webb, and Kenneth Owen. All arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 804 N. Fifth Street, Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
