Louise Gill, 78 a resident of Fort Sumner, NM died Thursday, March 07, 2002 at Northeastern Regional Medical Center in Las Vegas, NM following an extended illness. Louise was born August 6, 1923 in Raton, NM to the home of Harold Dayton Craig and the former Lillie Rosella Johnson. She was reared and attended school at Raton. Following graduation she went to work to support her oldest brother through college. She married Lewis “Sonny” Timm and they made their home in Las Vegas, NM where she worked as bookkeeper for her husband in their electrician business. Louise also worked as an Assistant Registrar at NM Highlands University for several years. “Sonny” preceded in death on April 6, 1969. Louise married Don Gill on February 16, 1974. They made their home in Fort Sumner in 1975 where Don worked as a ranch hand and Louise served as De Baca County Assessor for several years. She later worked several years as a secretary for Zola Horney. Louise was a member of Cowbelles, and Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Fort Sumner. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Las Vegas, NM. Louise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed everyone who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis “Sonny” Timm; her parents, two brothers, Harold Craig and Robert “Bob” Craig. Survivors include her husband Don Gill of Fort Sumner; a daughter Gwendolyn Burgess and husband John of Sheridan, Wyoming; one grandson William Russell of Sheridan Wyoming; also surviving are Don’s son’s, Randy Gill, Richard Gill, and Ronald Gill, grandchildren Justin, Janea and Julie. Also surviving is one sister Violet Thatcher of Farmington, NM; and a brother Thomas Craig of Texas along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Visitation will be held Friday beginning at 1PM until 6PM at the Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 9, 2002 from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner with Mr. Otho Rogers officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the Timm family plot, Masonic Cemetery, Las Vegas, New Mexico. Pallbearers will be family members and friends. The family prefers memorials to the De Baca County Senior Citizens Center or the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 804 North Fifth Street, Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
