Ruth Southard Price

Ruth Price, 80 a resident of Fort Sumner, NM died Thursday, May 23, 2002 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas following a short illness. Ruth was born July 24, 1921 in Quemado, NM to the home of Samuel F. Southard and the former Essie Crume. She was reared and attended school at Fort Sumner. During World War II Ruth worked in an airplane factory in California. She made her home in Albuquerque, NM for many years where she was a Civil Service employee at Kirtland Air Force Base. Following her retirement she made her home in Fort Sumner in 1982. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Sumner. She was a kind and loving neighbor and friend. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Sylvia Edwards in 1993. Survivors include one sister Dorothy Lobley of Roswell, NM and a nephew Woodrow Edwards of Albuquerque, NM along with other relatives and many friends. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 28, 2002 from the Fort Sumner Cemetery with Rev. Monty Leavell officiating. Memorials are preferred to the Fort Sumner Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 180, Fort Sumner, New Mexico 88119 or to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
