Cecilia Chavez

Cecilia Chavez, 51 of Roswell, NM died Thursday, June 5, 2003 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. She was born January 15, 1952 in Vaughn, NM to the home of Antonio and Helen Garcia. Cecilia was reared and attended school at Encino, NM. She made her home at Vaughn, NM, and Odessa, TX before moving to Roswell in 1987. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Roswell. Cecilia was a homemaker, she enjoyed sewing, making baby blankets, and caring for her grandchildren. According to her children she was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, and sister. Cecilia was preceded in death by a daughter Barbara Louise Sisneros in 1980 and a brother Manuel Garcia in 1964. Survivors include four sons Manuel Sisneros and wife Angie of Roswell, NM; Daniel Chavez of Dallas, TX; Chris Chavez of Roswell, NM; Marc Chavez of Roswell, NM and a daughter Jennifer Chavez of Roswell, NM; her parents Antonio and Helen Garcia of Vaughn, NM; three sisters Berlinda Garcia of Vaughn; Diana Garcia of Portales; Irene Sanchez and husband Johnny of Vaughn; two brothers Anthony Garcia and wife Sandra of Santa Fe, NM; Patricio Garcia and wife Amy of Portales; four grandchildren Stevie Sisneros, Kayla Sisneros, Joseph (Nick) Gonzales, and Adrian Castillo. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, June 8, 2003 from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vaughn, NM, Mrs. Dolores Sanchez will lead the prayers. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 9, 2003 from the church with Father John Jasinski, celebrant of the Mass.
