Jose Angel Aragon

Jose Angel Aragon 78, died Friday, June 6, 2003 at his home in Upper Anton Chico, NM following an illness. Jose was born July 2, 1924 in Anton Chico to the home of Julian and Ambrosia Aragon. He attended school and was reared at Upper Anton Chico. Jose Angel was a lifelong cattle rancher. He enjoyed long walks, visiting with his neighbors, and playing cards. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anton Chico. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Augustin Aragon in 1992; nephews Jimmy Velasquez in 1993, Johnny Velasquez in 1998, great-nephew Diego Velasquez in 2001. Survivors include a sister Esmeralda A. Velasquez and husband Arturo of La Loma, NM; seven nieces Agnes Mancha and husband Porfirio of Tucumcari; Terry Romero and husband Adolfo of La Loma; Ambrosia Jaramillo and husband Jose of Las Vegas, NM; Helen Baca and husband John of Tucumcari; Mary Jane Chavez and husband Arthur of Santa Rosa, NM; Frances Gallegos and husband Frank of Santa Rosa; Esther Mata of Santa Rosa; two nephews Delfinio Velasquez and wife Maria Ana of La Loma; and Pablo Velasquez and wife Ana of La Loma, NM along with a host of great-nieces and great-nephews other relatives and many friends. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, June 8, 2003 from St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anton Chico, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the church on Monday, June 9, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. with Father Patrick Duffy, celebrant of the Mass. Burial will follow at Sangre de Cristo Cemetery in Upper Anton Chico. Pallbearers will be Porfirio Mancha Sr., Adolfo Romero, Lorenzo R. Lucero, John Baca, Lee Aragon, and Albert Olguin. Honorary bearers will be Porfirio Mancha Jr., Ruben Romero, Julian Velasquez, Joseph Jaramillo, Gabriel Baca, and Zachary Velasquez.
