Dario M. Lopez Jr., 34 a resident of Fort Sumner and Clovis died Thursday, May 30, 2002 in Fort Sumner. He was born August 10, 1967 in Clovis, the son of Dario and Ellen (Maes) Lopez. He was reared at Clovis and Fort Sumner, graduating from Fort Sumner High School. Following graduation Dario served with the NM Army National Guard. He attended Advance Individual Training with the National Guard at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. Dario married Theresa Saiz on December 18, 1991 at Santa Rosa. He worked for several years as a carpenter with Jim Sena Construction. He also worked for Zamora Plumbing and G. C. & S. Plumbing and Heating Co. Dario enjoyed listening to the oldies music, especially the Beatles, he also enjoyed reading and fishing. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Aurelio and Rayitos Lopez and his maternal grandparents Juan and Emilia Maes. Survivors include his wife Theresa Lopez, two sons Michael Lopez and Gilbert Lopez, and a step-daughter Desiree Bradley all of the home in Clovis. His parents Dario and Ellen Lopez of Fort Sumner, his God-mother Lola Blea of Fort Sumner; eight brothers Ramon Lopez of Fort Sumner; Gary Lopez of Fort Sumner; Pat Lopez of Gallup, NM, Larry Lopez of Roswell, NM; Perry Lopez of Queen Creek, AZ; Johnny Lopez, and Abel Lopez of Clovis, NM and Aurelio Lopez of Fort Sumner; three sisters Linda Gonzales and Irean Anaya of Fort Sumner and Vicky Lopez of Clovis. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Rosary services were held at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, June 2, 2002 from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 3, 2002 at St. Anthony Parish with Father Stephen Schultz officiating. Burial followed at St. Anthony Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gilbert Lopez, Michael Lopez, Albert Mares, Bobby Sena, Mike Ramirez, Perry Lopez, Gerald Lopez, Perry Lopez Jr., George Sena Jr., and Ramon Lopez. All arrangements were under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 804 North Fifth Street, Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
