Annie Robinson

June 21, 1915 — March 17, 2005

Annie Robinson, 89 a longtime Artesia, NM resident died Thursday, March 17, 2005 at Laurel Ridge Care Center in Clovis, NM following an illness. She was born June 21, 1915 in Hayworth, Oklahoma to the home of Marion West and the former Mary Elizabeth Martin. She was reared and attended school at Clarksville, TX. She married Charles Robinson in 1936. During WWII, Annie worked in the Naval Shipyard as a riveter. Annie and Charles moved to Arkansas for several years before moving to Artesia, NM in 1952 where Annie worked over 20 years at Moore’s Bakery. She made her home in Fort Sumner in 2001. Annie enjoyed quilting, sewing, and tending to her flower garden, she especially loved roses; she also enjoyed traveling to visit with her family. Annie was preceded in death by her husband Charles Robinson; her parents; two sisters Vivian Counts and Myrtle West; and a son James Robinson. Survivors include two daughters Janet Williams of Ruidoso, NM; Mary Ann Cortese and husband Buddy of Fort Sumner; one son Charles Robinson and wife Mary of Lonsdale, Arkansas; a daughter-in-law Kieko Robinson of Sierra Vista, AZ. Also surviving are five grandchildren Neil Robinson and wife Tammy of Lonsdale, Arkansas; Pam Carter and husband Kirk of Lafayette, Louisiana; Paula Simpson of Mesa, AZ; Sarah Cortese of Fort Worth, TX; and Elizabeth Autrey and husband Ryan of Texico, NM; five Great-grandchildren and six Great-great-grandchildren also survive along with a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2005 from the First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner with Sister Anna Teeter and Robin Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Cortese family plot, Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Buddy Cortese, Ryan Autrey, Kirk Carter, Chris McShanag, Nick Cortese, and Jay Cortese. Honorary bearers will be all her family and friends. The family prefers memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 287, Fort Sumner, New Mexico 88119. Visitation will be Friday from 4pm to 7pm and Saturday from 10am to 1pm at the funeral home and from 1pm until service time at the church.
