Diane Romo

Esmeralda "Diane" Romo, age 63, passed away following a sudden illness on July 11, 2005. Esmeralda was born May 8, 1942 in Sombrillo, NM to the home of Isidro and Elena Saiz Lucero. She married Baltazar "Buzzy" Romo in 1963 in Albuquerque. Esmeralda loved doing arts and crafts and made many rosaries and gave them to families who recently lost a loved one. She was also famous for her ceramic statues of Saints and just recently she and her daughter Sunshine restored the Statue of St. Joseph at St. Joseph Cemetery. She and her husband Buzzy spent countless hours restoring the Holy Family Church in Pintada and helped organize the many funcion's to raise money for the Holy Family Church. She was also a member of St. Rose of Lima Church where she was one of the first Eucharisitc Ministers. Esmeralda loved spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She will truly be missed by all. Esmeralda is preceded in death by her mother; Elena Lucero, husband; Baltazar "Buzzy" Romo, daughter; Josefita Romo, brother; Eloy Lucero and mother-in-law Abelina Romo. She is survived by her children, Catarino Romo and Rebecca Chavez of Santa Rosa, Casimiro Romo and wife Louise of Villanueva, Angelo Romo and wife Marka of Vaughn, Esmeralda "Sunshine" Romo of Santa Rosa, Baltazar Romo, Jr. and wife Lisa of Ruidoso, grandchildren; Renee Castillo, Dillon Bonney, Joaquin Romo, Carlos Romo, Catarino Romo, Dericke Romo, Baltazar Romo IV, Sean Romo, Vincent Madrid and Adriana Madrid, Matthew, Timmothy and Samantha Valverde, great-grandchildren; Robert and Anna Castillo. Also surviving is her father Isidro Lucero of Pintada, brother; Ismael Lucero of Las Vegas, NM, sister; Jane Lucero of Pintada, Nephews; Tony Garcia, Joseph Harris, Walter Lucero and Fred Lucero as well as numerous cousins, in-laws and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary service will be held on Wednesday, July 13, at 7:00 PM from St. Rose Church in Santa Rosa. A Commuion Service will be held on Thursday, July 14, at 10:00 AM from Holy Family Church in Pintada with Deacon Arsenio Sanchez conducting the commuinon service. Burial will follow in the family plot at Romo Ranch in Pintada. Serving as Pallbearers will be Phillip Hohne, Joseph Harris, Conrad Sandoval, Bo Cribbs, Joe Chavez, Tim Campos, Don Thompson and Tony Garcia. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Connie Chavez, Sylvia Maestas, Agnes Seidel, Lucy Chavez, Theresa Cribbs, Dorothy Johnson, Bonnie Thompson, Andres Hernandez, Ruby Harbaugh, Sandra Lucero, Patty Pacheco and the rest of her many friends. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
