Rosalita G. Lucero, 92 of Fort Sumner died Saturday, December 08, 2007 in Fort Sumner following an illness. Rosalita was born April 18, 1915 in Los Ojitos, NM the daughter of Maximiano and Dolores (Ronquillo) Garcia. She married Audon Lucero on August 1, 1932. They made their home in Fort Sumner for many years. Rosa worked as a waitress for many years. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. She enjoyed caring for her yard and singing. Rosa was preceded in death by her husband Audon Lucero Sr. on January 24, 1994; her son Audon Lucero Jr. on November 8, 1975; a granddaughter Rosie Gutierrez; grandson Johnny Chavez; brothers Frank Garcia, Pedro Garcia, Max Garcia and a sister Ofelia Garcia. Survivors include a son Max Lucero and wife Diane of Tucson, AZ; grandsons Felix Chavez, Carlos Chavez, Joseph Lucero and granddaughter Patsy Kenyon. Also surviving is her daughter-in-law Delia Caballero of Fort Sumner; three brothers Selestino “Joe” Lovato of Fort Sumner; Christian Lovato, Juanito Lovato and a sister in law Celina Garcia all of Albuquerque, her longtime care giver Rosie Salazar of Fort Sumner along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 PM Monday, December 10, 2007 from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 11, 2007 from the church with Father John Jasinski officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Brandon Chavez, Ephriam Chavez, Gilbert Roybal Jr., Felix Chavez, Carlos Chavez, Joseph Lucero, Carlos Chavez Jr. and Luis Gutierrez Jr. Visitation will be Monday 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
