Grace Tinguely Solis, “Sister Grace” age 89 of Fort Sumner, NM passed away Friday, January 9, 2004 at Laurel Ridge Nursing Center in Clovis, NM. Mrs. Solis was born in El Paso, Texas on March 20, 1913, to Charles Albert and Mary Louise Tinguely. Mr. Tinguely, her father, was born in Europe on the French-Swiss border and her mother was born in Unterlangendorf, Austria, Hungary. Mrs. Solis was the youngest of 9 children, all whom have preceded her in death. Mrs. Solis was married January 1, 1932 to Samuel Benevidez Solis, whose parents were immigrants from Spain. In 1962, Mrs. Solis received the greatest calling of her life when God called her to the Ministry, into New Mexico. Her ministry began in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, with small meetings. These meetings grew larger and larger with many converts, and she soon moved her ministry to Fort Sumner, New Mexico into an old church building. She gave the church the name “Christ Full Gospel Church”, now named “Church On The Hill”, and soon a beautiful new church was built. Mrs. Solis was not only blessed to be called by God and to His work, but she also had great musical talents and loved painting still life in oils. She was a precious mother and a much loved Grandmother. Mrs. Solis is survived by two daughters Dorathy Lea Haddad and husband Norman of El Paso, TX; and Alice Solis Ferry of El Paso, TX; Grandchildren Racy Lea Huddad of Lubbock, TX; Rachel McCall and husband Chuck of El Paso, TX; Monique Celeste Rosser and husband Patrick of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren, Faith Alexandra Huddad; Emily Jabali; John Paul Dillow; Troy Rosser, Lilly Rosser, and Mick Rosser. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 13, 2004 from the Church on The Hill in Fort Sumner, New Mexico with Anna Teeter and Pete Jaramillo officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Sam Sena, David Bailey, Jim Lyssy, Gerald Sena, Lee Koll, Bob Addison, Paul Pacheco and Frank Martz. The family prefers memorial contributions to the Church on The Hill.
