Helen Chavez

Helen Chavez, 91 of Clovis, New Mexico died Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at her home following an illness. She was born November 10, 1912 in Tularosa, New Mexico to the home of James Allen and the former Luisa Vigil. Helen married Doroteo Chavez in Santa Rosa, NM on August 27, 1931. Helen made her home in Texas, California, and New Mexico. She moved to Clovis, NM in 1980. Helen was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Clovis, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband Doroteo Chavez on March 19, 1982; two grandchildren Lorenzo Chavez; and Louise Chavez; four brothers Joe Allen, Fred Allen, Bill Allen, Wren Allen, and one sister Ruby Allen. Survivors include two sons Joe Chavez and wife Ann of Santa Maria, California and Paul Lewis Chavez of Clovis, New Mexico; eight grandchildren Steve Chavez, Adam Chavez, Casey Chavez, Eva Clark, Crusita Johnson, Mary Ann Daniels, Frances Velasco, and Greg Chavez; 20 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Burial was held at 10AM, Saturday, January 10, 2004 at Evergreen Cemetery in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. A memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 15, 2003 from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, NM, Father Nick Nichols will officiate.
