Otilia S. Lucero, age 86, passed away January 11, 2004 in Santa Rosa following an illness. Otilia was born January 18, 1917 in Juan De Dios, NM to the home of Jose Abran and Felicidad Valverde Salazar. She worked at the Santa Rosa Schools as a cook and was also a caretaker for many years. Otilia loved to quilt, sew and spend time with her family. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Otilia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jose Inez Lucero, her son Pete Lucero and Jose Maria Lucero, her brothers and sisters Jose Abran Salazar, Christian Salazar, Sotero Salazar, Roberto Salazar, Olympia Casaus and Analicia Flores. Survivors include her children Jose Severo Lucero and wife Felipa of Albuquerque, Diego Lucero and wife Sylvia of Portales, Joseph Lucero of Albuquerque, Robert Lucero and wife Angie of Albuquerque, Mike Lucero and wife Lori of Santa Rosa and Abran Lucero and wife Rose of Gallup, her brother Emilio Salazar and wife Julia of Portales and her sister Maria Casaus of Portales. Also surviving are 32 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:00 from St. Rose Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am also from St. Rose Church with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Nuestra Senora de Refugio Cemetery in Puerto De Luna. Serving as Pallbearers will be her grandsons Michael Lucero, Cristobal Lucero, Eli Lucero, Manuel Lucero, Robert Lucero, Francisco Lucero, Diego Lucero, Douglas Lucero, Pete Lucero, Jonathan Lucero, Jose Lucero and Mitchell Garcia. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the rest of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
