Stephen L. Febus, 63 a resident of Fort Sumner, NM since 1996 died Sunday, February 1, 2004 at his home following an illness. Mr. Febus was born January 26, 1941 in Lancaster, Ohio to the home of Lowell R. Febus and the former Geraldine Clora Witham. He was raised, attended and graduated from high school in Lancaster. Steve married Gay Nell McComas in 1961 at Columbus, Ohio. Steve served for 13 years in the U.S. Navy as a Data Processor aboard the Air Craft Carrier, U.S.S. Randolph. Following his honorable discharge he worked as as an automobile salesman in Ohio. Steve and Gay made their home at Roswell, NM for two years prior to moving to Fort Sumner in 1996. He was a member of the D.A.V. and American Legion in Clovis, NM. Steve attended the Fort Sumner Church of Christ. He loved horses and spending time on his computer. He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant daughter Alisha Gay Febus in 1965. Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife Gay N. Febus of Fort Sumner, NM; two sons Stephen L. Febus II and wife Jennifer of Delaware, OH; Jeffrey L. Febus and wife Diane of Delaware, Ohio; one sister Molly E. Febus of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren Aleashia Febus, Justin Febus, Morgan Febus, Jeffrey “J.T.” Tyler Febus, and Madison Febus all of Delaware, Ohio. Also surviving is a brother-in-law Ron McComas and his wife Sue of Plain City, Ohio. No local services are planned, cremation has taken place.
