Larry Erwood Petty, 56 of Fort Sumner, NM died Tuesday, April 5, 2005 in a house fire at his residence. Larry was born January 26, 1949 in Sulphur Springs, TX, to the home of Gilbert E. and Oleta Marie Petty. He was reared in Sulphur Springs and attended school at Miller Grove, TX. Following graduation from high school and while in college he worked for LTV Aircraft Production in Greenville, TX. He later worked for Rockwell International in Sulphur Springs. He married Louise Prather August 20, 1970 in Sulphur Springs. Larry became an EMT-Paramedic and worked in Mount Pleasant, TX for 10 years. He returned to school in Texarkana, TX where he received a nursing degree. He worked as a Registered Nurse in Mount Pleasant, Greenville, and Commerce, Texas. He and Louise made their home in Fort Sumner in 1995. Larry continued his nursing career in Fort Sumner and Santa Rosa, NM. Larry’s favorite past time was his computer, cooking, and his vegetable garden. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Survivors include his wife Louise of Fort Sumner, NM; two sons Jason Everett Petty of Sulphur Springs, TX; Craig Allen Petty and wife Amy of Fort Sumner, NM; his parents Gilbert and Oleta Petty of Sulphur Springs, TX; one brother Elston Petty and wife Sylvia of Sulphur Springs, TX; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends and co-workers. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2005 from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner with Virgil Mills officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2005 from Greenview Cemetery, Sulphur Springs, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 804 N.
