Antonio Louis "Louie" Pacheco, age 54, passed away April 24, 2004 at the Guadalupe County Hospital following an illness. Louie was born May 28, 1949 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Leandro and Ignacita Montoya Pacheco. He was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Following graduation Louie enlisted in the United States Army where he served in VietNam where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, VietNam Service Medal, Two Overseas Bars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Comendation Medal and the Sharpshooter. Louie was employed with the Army Corps of Engineers for many years as an Engineer where he helped build the Santa Rosa Dam and Conchas Dam. He loved arrowhead hunting, hunting and fishing. Louie is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Severo Aragon, his special friend Miriam Perez, his nieces Connie Saiz and Lucy Gutierrez and his nephew Peter Gutierrez. Survivors include his sons Antonio L. Pacheco, Jr. of Villanueva, NM, Albert A. Pacheco and wife Francine of Santa Fe, NM, Cristobal Pacheco of Albuquerque and his daughter Analisa Pacheco of Albuquerque, his grandchildren Matthew Lovato and Markose Pacheco, his sisters and brothers Maggie Gutierrez and husband Carlos, Lucia Gutierrez and husband Marcelino, Mary Gutierrez and husband Richard, Josie Martinez and husband Tommy and Clara Romero all of Santa Rosa, his brothers Ernest Pacheco and wife Sophie and Gilbert Pacheco all of Albuquerque. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Monday, April 26 at 7:00 PM from St. Rose of Lima Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial wil be celebrated on Tuesday, April 27 at 10:00 AM also from St. Rose Church with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemtery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Ambrossio Garcia, Jerry Romero, Dominic Chavez, Gilbert Chavez,Arthur Peachy Chavez and Paul Pacheco. Serving as Honorary Pallbearer will be Dicky Salas. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Sana Rosa.
