Luz E Arguello

Luz Esmeralda Arguello, 82 a lifelong Vaughn, NM resident died Monday, January 28, 2008 at her home following an illness. Mrs. Arguello was born February 21, 1925 in Vaughn, NM to the home of Abran Jesus and Beatrice (Ruiz) Gallegos. She attended Vaughn Public Schools. Luz married Marcos Arguello on April 8, 1948 at Vaughn. They made their home in Vaughn where Luz worked for many years as a cook and waitress and as a motel clerk. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vaughn. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Luz was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son Herman Arguello, five brothers Antonio, Celso, Maguin, Nicasio, and Abran, Jr. two sisters Isabel Gallegos and Alice Luna and her grandson Andres Arguello Survivors include her husband of 59 years Marcos Arguello of the home in Vaughn, NM; three sons Marcos N. Arguello and wife Mary Ann of Santa Fe, NM; Patrick R. Arguello of Santa Fe, NM; Jose M. Arguello and wife Josephine of Albuquerque; a daughter Rose Ann Maes and husband Pat of Vaughn, NM; 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild; brother Maguin Gallegos of Tucson, AZ; three sisters Stella Romero of Pastura, NM; Claudina McDaniel of Vaughn, NM; and Jane Anaya of Vaughn, NM. Rosary services will be held on Thursday, January 31, at 7:00 PM from the St. Mary’s Parish Hall in Vaughn. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Febraury 1, at 10:00 AM also from St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn, New Mexico. Serving as Pallbearers will be Marty O’Shea, Pat Maes, Richard Gallegos, Randy Turner, Carlos Arguello and Marcos Arguello, Jr. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Elida Soto, Anna Arguello, Julie Ann Maes and Manuelito Arguello.
