James Thomas “Tom” Wilson, 96 of Fort Sumner died Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at Farwell Convalescent Center in Farwell, NM. Tom was born August 27, 1908 in Quail, Texas to the home of William Thomas Wilson and the former Mary Lucinda Boyett. He was reared at Quail and Amarillo, TX. He attended school at Ima, NM. Tom married Mary Louise Brigham in Amarillo, TX on March 16, 1929. They made their home in Amarillo, TX, Ima, NM; Los Angeles, CA; and Fort Sumner, NM. Tom was a carpenter and an auto mechanic. He worked as a mechanic for the city of Amarillo for several years; while living in Los Angeles he worked for Metropolitan Chevrolet. In 1947 they made their home in Fort Sumner where Tom worked as a mechanic at the Rio Pecos and for Withers Motor Company. He later owned his own mechanic shop Wilson Repair in Fort Sumner. Tom and his son owned and operated Wilson & Son Poultry in Fort Sumner for 17 years; they delivered eggs to the local stores as well as stores in Santa Rosa, Clovis and the surrounding area. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Louise; an infant daughter, Billie Ruth Wilson, his second wife Lorraine; five sisters Odie Kinsey, Ora Wilson, Julia Owens, Janie Ferguson, and Georgia Spencer. Survivors include a daughter Sylvia Crenshaw and husband William of Taiban, NM; a son James W. Wilson and wife Lavelle of Fort Sumner; six grandchildren Wilann Griego and husband Jim of Portales, NM; Becky Shafer of Portales, NM; Glen Crenshaw and wife Willene of Taiban, NM; Steve Wilson and wife LeAnn of Casper, WY; John Wilson of Roswell, NM; Quintin Wilson and wife Brenda of Hobbs, NM and eleven Great-grandchildren and one Great-great-granddaughter. Also surviving is one sister Iris Morgan of Clovis, NM along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005 from the Fort Sumner Cemetery with Chaplain Bill Bridwell officiating. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Glen Crenshaw, Steve Wilson, John Wilson, Jim Griego, Quintin Wilson, and Jarrett Wilson. Visitation will be Thursday from 1pm to 6pm and Friday from 10am to 1:30 pm at the funeral home. All arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 804 N.
