Emerenciano "Emery" M. Urban, age 86, passed away October 5, 2004 at the Guadalupe County Hospital following an illness. Emery was born April 14, 1918 in Colonias, NM to the home of Marcus and Carlota Marez Urban. He served in the United States Army during WW II and received the European, African-Middle Eastern, Asiatic Pacific, Phillippine Liberation, Good Conduct and the Victory Medals. Emery married Cecelia Hoehne in Colonias in 1959. He was a longtime cattle rancher in the Colonias area. He enjoyed hunting, repairing watches and taxidermy. Emery is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Cecelia and brothers and sister. Survivors include his son Emery Urban, Jr., of Santa Rosa, Erma Romero and husband Robert of Glorieta, NM, Theresa Funetes and husband Jerry of Dalhart, TX, Jackie Urban and husband Russell Grant of Santa Rosa, Janet Padilla and husband Randy of Socorro, grandchildren Victoria Romero, Eugene Romero Rebekah Romero, Amanda McKay, Daniel Grant, Marcus Padilla and Veronica Padilla. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Thursday, October 7, at 7:00 from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 8, at 10:00 AM from St. Rose of Lima Church with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at San Jose Cemetery in Colonias. Serving as Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
