Marvelle Ruth Beauford

Marvelle Beauford, 85, of Carlsbad, NM died Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at Glencroft Care Center in Glendale, AZ, following an illness. She was born November 29, 1918, in Arkansas City, Kansas to the home of Dale Cox and the former Lola Pochel. She was reared and attended school at Arkansas City, Kansas. Marvelle came to Santa Rosa, NM, in 1937. She married Richard V. (Dick) Beauford in 1938 at the Methodist Church in Santa Rosa. They made their home in Santa Rosa and several other New Mexico cities before settling in Carlsbad in 1978. Marvelle worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for many years alongside her husband in a family owned Trucking and Redi-Mix concrete business they co-owned most of their married life. She retired about 1988. Marvelle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed knitting, and crossword/anagram puzzles. She was preceded in death by her father, Dale Cox; her mother Lola Cox; and a brother Nelson Cox. Survivors include her husband Richard V. (Dick) Beauford of Carlsbad, NM; one daughter Sharon M. Thompson of Glendale, AZ; two sons Richard E. (Dick) Beauford of Mesa, AZ; and Jeffrey L. Beauford and wife Agnes of Fort Worth, TX; two grandsons, Richard Thompson, Connor Beauford; one granddaughter, Madison Beauford one step-grandson John G. Cargill and one step-granddaughter Delia Kohnert and two step-great-grandchildren. Graveside Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 25, 2004 from the Evergreen Cemetery in Santa Rosa, New Mexico with Pastor Kevin Koop officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 923 South.
