Veronica Gutierrez, age 46, passed away November 8, 2004 following a tragic automobile accident near Dilia, NM. Also killed was her niece Denise Chavez, her great niece Jaelynn Rodarte and Christopher Rodarte. Veronica was born May 22, 1958 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Antonio and Terry Baca Gutierrez. She was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa where she graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1976. Veronica enjoyed bingo, and attending the Santa Rosa Lady Lion Volleyball and Basketball games. She was a loving mother to her kids, they meant the world to her. She is preceded in death by her niece Denise Chavez, great niece Jaelynn Rodarte, great nephew Jayaire Sarabia, paternal grandmother Donaciana Amador, and maternal Great-grandmother Amalia Baca. Survivors include daughter Jessica Gutierrez, and twins Jason and Jackie Gutierrez, parents Antonio and Terry Gutierrez of Santa Rosa, two bothers Arsenio Gutierrez and wife Bernice of Albuquerque, Albert Gutierrez and wife Darlene of Santa Rosa; three sisters Isabel Saiz and husband Ruben of Puerto de Luna, Diane Chavez and husband Patrick, Molly Andrada and husband Mario of Santa Rosa. Also surviving are her Godchildren Derrick Chavez and Ruby Saiz along with numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday, November 11, 2004 from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 12, from the Santa Rosa High School Gymnasium with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Patrick Josh Chavez, K.C. Meairs, Rosalie Ortega, Timothy Baca, Mario Andrada, and Priscilla Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will include Devin Chavez, Derrick Chavez, Elena Andrada, and Julianna Andrada, Denise Meairs, Jake Meairs, Martin Meairs, Marcus Meairs, Whitney Meairs, Members of the Santa Rosa Lady Lions Basketball team and Coach Joseph Esquibel.
