Claudia Estelle Savage, 81 of Clovis, NM died Thursday, April 24, 2003 at Plains Regional Medical Center following an illness. Mrs. Savage was born October 30, 1921 in Roby, Texas to the home of Claud Justiss and the former Commie Chandler. She was reared and attended school at Roby. She married Dan Owen Savage on April 6, 1942 in Biloxi, Miss. They made their home at Melrose, NM for many years where Claudia worked a City Cleaners. Claudia also worked as a seamstress. She was a member of Eastern Star for many years. Claudia and Dan moved to Deming, NM for sixteen years where they assisted with the family ranch. Dan died from injuries in a pedestrian-auto accident on April 6, 2002. Following Dan’s death Claudia moved to Clovis. Beside her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters Helen Ballard, and Evelyn Miller and a brother Denmon Justiss. Survivors include a daughter Sharen Fraze and husband Max of Clovis; two sons Sidney Savage and wife Charlsie of T or C, NM; and Rodney Savage and wife Scotty of Portales, NM. Also surviving are six grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 27, 2003 from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner, NM with Rev. Anna Teeter officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot, Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brad Wyre, Wade Fraze, Wesley Fraze, JoSeth Savage, Joab Savage, and Jim Fox. Honorary bearers will be all her many friends and relatives. The family prefers memorials to the NM Boys Ranch in memory of Claudia Savage.
