Francis L. Thompson, age 75, of Fort Sumner, New Mexico died Friday, May 13, 2005 at his home following an illness. He was born on June 30, 1929 in Fierro, New Mexico to the home of Mack Chandler Thompson and the former Ollie Frances Daniel. He married his wife, Juanell Fisher, on September 9, 1951 in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Francis served in Korea with the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. Francis worked as a Farrier, shoeing horses from 1963 to 1995. Horses were his greatest pleasure; he loved raising and racing horses. Francis is preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Ollie Thompson, two sisters, Edythe Black in 1995 and Ann Kelley in 1990; two brothers, Lynn Thompson in 1988 and William Ray Thompson in 1989. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Juanell Thompson of the family home of Fort Sumner, NM; a son, Michael Thompson of Careywood, Idaho; 2 daughters, Taunya Dollar and husband Leland of Paragould, Arkansas and Alda Crill and husband Rikk of Longmont, Colorado; a sister, Lois Wood and husband Dale of Amado, Arizona; a brother, David Thompson and wife Nina of Sahuarita, Arizona. Also surviving are seven grandchildren as well as many relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. No services are planned at this time.
