Guillermo "Willie" Chavez, age 57, passed away June 27, 2005 at University Hospital in Albuquerque following an illness. Willie was born November 24, 1948 in Santa Rosa, to the home of Isidoro and Sarita Lerma Chavez. He was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Willie worked as a cook for various restaurants He enjoyed attending Santa Rosa Lion Games and fishing. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Archie and Fermin Chavez. Survivors include his children Edward Chavez of Albuquerque, Willie Chavez of Santa Rosa and Crystal Chavez also of Santa Rosa, sisters; Marcelina Baca of Hartman, CO, Siria Lucero and husband Dan of Santa Rosa and Mary Lou Maestas and husband Tony of Cuervo, his brother Macedonio Chavez of Santa Rosa. Also surviving is his sister in law Stella Chavez of Santa Rosa, 4 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Wednesday, June 29, at 7:00 from St. Rose Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 30, at 10:00 AM also from St. Rose Church with Father Nick Nichols officianting. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Arthur Romero, Frank Chavez, Eddie Chavez, Manuel Lucero, Vince Lucero and Victor Anaya. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
