Mary Ann Ramsey, 63 of Fort Sumner, passed away Friday, March 28, 2008 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis following an illness. Mary Ann was born July 28, 1944 in Alamosa, Colorado to the home of Theodore R. Mackie and the former Elmira King. Mary Ann was raised in San Cristobal and Taos. In 1960 she was the Taos County candidate for the New Mexico State Fair queen. She graduated from school in 1962 from Taos High School. Following graduation she attended New Mexico State University for a year. On January 10, 1970 she married Tom C. Ramsey in San Cristobal, NM. She worked for the Kit Carson Co-op for five years. In 1970 Tom and Mary Ann made their home in Fort Sumner where she began working for the United States Postal Service, where she worked until her retirement in 2002. Mary Ann was brought up in the Methodist faith. In her free time she enjoyed reading, and gardening, and working with horses. She is preceded in death by both her parents. Survivors include her husband Tom C. Ramsey of Fort Sumner, NM; a son, Theodore B. Ramsey and wife Tracie of Santa Rosa, NM; a daughter; Tammy C. Muro and husband Joseph of Mesilla Park, NM. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren Grant, Daniel and Angelina; 2 great-grandchildren Bailey and Emily. As per her wishes cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 5:30 pm at the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner with Buddy Hall officiating.
