Charles Irby Bedford, age 58, passed away April 20, 2003 at the Guadalupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa following an illness. Charles was born April 8, 1945 in Roswell, NM to the home of H.G. "Pete" Bedford and Lois Weaverker Bedford.He attended schools in Roswell and Mountainair and graduated from Fort SumnerHigh School. He married Judy Scott on June 14, 1983 in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. Charles was a longtime Guadalupe County Cattle Rancher. He loved the Rodeo and served as a rodeo judge for the New Mexico Rodeo Association, the Board of Directors for the New Mexico High School Rodeo Association and traveled with the Rodeo. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. Charles is preceded in death by his father H.G." Pete" Bedford, his daughter Tammy Bishop and his nephew Bill Bedford. Survivors include his wife Judy Bedford of the family ranch near Santa Rosa, his mother Lois Bedford, his brother Larry Bedford and wife Carolyn of Wichita, Kansas, his children Jim Grove and wife D'dee of Amarillo, TX, Jeanie Cereghino and husband Mike of Lucille, Idaho, Brenda Sullivan, Debbie Terrell and husband Monty all of Fort Sumner and his niece Danna Bedford of Virginia. Cremation has taken place and Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, April 23 at 2:00 PM from the First Baptist Church in Santa Rosa with Rev. Van Espy officiating. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Masonic Libert Lodge #51 and all his many friends. Charles last ride will be on Saturday, April 26 at the Bedford Family Ranch located 17 miles east of Santa Rosa on State Road 156. The family asks if you can to bring your horse and join along.
