Howard Ulmonty “Stormy” Boyles, 88 of Fort Sumner, NM died Friday, March 9, 2007 in Ontario, Oregon. He was born March 5, 1919 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of Cecil Ulmonty Boyles and the former Esther Gandnen. He was reared and attended schools in Des Moines. Stormy worked in the restaurant industry while growing up in Des Moines. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on August 16, 1940 at Port Arthur, CA and was assigned to the Quartermaster Detachment, Service Command Unit 1908, Camp Cooke, California. He was honorably discharged on November 8, 1944. He made his home in California where he began working in the movie studios and in 1944 joined the Movie Actors Club. He worked for many years as a Motion Picture Grip including several years on the Donna Reed Show, he retired in 1980. Stormy married Dolores Maria D’Alavaro on August 15, 1947 in Santa Monica, CA. They made their home in Fort Sumner in 1981. Stormy was a member of the Clovis and Portales Elks Lodge and Local Union 80 I.A.T.S.C. Stormy and Dolores enjoyed league bowling in Fort Sumner for many years. Stormy was preceded in death by his wife Dolores Boyles on April 23, 1998, his parents and a sister Ruth Boyles. Survivors include a daughter Rose Anne Denney of Ontario, Oregon and two grandchildren Kimberly Pence of New Plymouth, Idaho and Kelly Christensen of Scottsdale, AZ; four great-grandchildren Tabor Pence, David Christensen, Michael Christensen, and William Christensen. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 14, 2007 from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner with Dan Craig officiating. Cremation has taken place.
