Tiofilo Marquez Roybal Sr., 77 of Clovis, NM died Monday, March 15, 2004 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX following an illness. Tiofilo was born April 19, 1926 in Yeso, NM the son of Silviano Roybal and Cipriana Marquez. He attended school at Yeso. Tiofilo worked for the AT&SF Railroad for over 30 years. He worked as a machine operator and held many duties during his career. He retired as a foreman in 1973 following a work related accident. Tiofilo was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance Way union, and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. He also attended Sacred Heart and Our Lady of Guadalupe while living in Clovis, NM. According to his family he loved being with his family, he was a great cook and enjoyed his visits to the casinos. Tiofilo made his home in Clovis in 1985. He was preceded in death by his first wife Lucy Roybal in 1987; his second wife Lidia in 2003; a son Larry Roybal in 1980; two sisters Adelina Lopez and Cleofas Sanchez; and one brother Albino Roybal. Survivors include three daughters Frances Trujillo and husband Sonny of Roswell, NM; Helen Casaus of Clovis, NM; Margaret Lucero and husband Agapito of Fort Sumner; four sons T.M. Roybal Jr. and wife Christine of Fort Sumner; Mike Roybal and wife Lorraine of Montezuma, NM; John Roybal and wife Barbara of Plainview, TX; Gilbert Roybal and wife Angie of Melrose, NM; two sisters Mary Pedroza of Brownfield, TX; and Linda Bonney of Clovis, NM; four brothers Sylvester Roybal of Fort Sumner, NM; Augustine Roybal of Santa Fe, NM; Napoleon Roybal of Canyon, TX; and Silviano Roybal of Clovis, NM. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 28 Great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Rosary services will be held at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday, March 16, 2004 from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner; Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the church at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2004 with Father Sotero Sena officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
