Kenneth Scott, 87 a longtime De Baca County resident died Sunday, December 29, 2002 in the Pecos Valley Care Center following an illness. Mr. Scott was born September 28, 1915 in Garrets Bluff, TX to the home of John Wilson Scott and the former Ollie Reid. He was reared and attended grade school at Garrets Bluff and graduated from Paris High School in Paris, TX in 1933. Kenneth began his work in ranching on the J.B. Walton Ranch at Kermit, TX from 1934 until 1951. He married Tommie Thelma Davis in 1937. They worked on ranches in Texas, Oklahoma and made their home in Roswell, NM where Kenneth worked as a mechanic. In 1955 Kenneth moved back to Kermit, TX where he worked as a roust about with an oil company. In 1957 they began working on the Walton Ranch near Lake Sumner until 1970. Kenneth worked for Dennison Machine Shop in Fort Sumner until 1980 when he moved to Galisteo, NM to work on the San Cristobal Ranch They remained at San Cristobal until his retirement in 1990. Kenneth and Tommie retired to Lake Sumner where they enjoyed hunting, fishing, rockwork, and water skiing. . They made their home in Fort Sumner in 1995. Tommie preceded him in death September 28, 1999. Kenneth made his home at the Pecos Valley Care Center since 1999. He was preceded in death by his wife; two sisters Vala Howie, and Loys Osborne; and an infant brother Joe Jasper Scott. Survivors include a son Mac Scott and wife Terri of Portales, NM; two grandchildren Kenny Scott of London, England and Samantha Wiseman of Montrose, Colorado. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 2, 2003 from the Fort Sumner Cemetery with Rev.
