Adela Sena Romero a longtime Fort Sumner, NM resident died Sunday, January 5, 2003 at her daughters home in Carlsbad, NM following an illness. Adela was born in Elvira, NM she was reared and attended school at Puerto De Luna and Santa Rosa, NM. She worked as a waitress at restaurants in Fort Sumner for many years. She also worked at High Plains Air Craft in Fort Sumner. Adela was a member of the Eagles Club in Fort Sumner where she volunteered for many years. Adela enjoyed dancing, music, and being with her family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfredo in 1973; a daughter Patsy Gerbino in 1994; her parents; and one sister Katie Romero. Survivors include a daughter JoAnn Moore and husband Michael Anthony of Carlsbad, NM; two granddaughters Katie Ann Moore of Carlsbad and Stephanie Gerbino of Lindenhurst, NY; a son-in-law Louis Gerbino of Lindenhurst, one sister Frances Romero of Santa Rosa, NM and two brothers Eddie Garcia of Arizona and Charlie Sena of Clovis, NM. Other survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, January 9, 2003 with Father Stephen Schultz officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Local arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner, New Mexico.
