Mateo Ibarra, age 80, passed away January 9, 2003 at the Guadalupe County Hospital following an illness. Mateo was born September 21, 1922 in Oaxaca, Mexico. He married Flora Warrick Esquibel from Las Vegas, NM. Mateo and Flora lived in Santa Cruz, CA for many years. He retired from Bayview Schools in Santa Cruz. He had been a resident of Santa Rosa since 2002. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Cirilo Ibarra. Survivors include his wife Flora of Santa Rosa, his sister Carmen Calmenares of Capitol, CA, his nephews Marcelino Calmenares of Watsonville, CA, Hilario Calmenares, Jessie Ibarra both of Santa Cruz, CA, his nieces Celsestina Calmenares of Watsonville, CA and Anna Solis of Los Banos, CA. Also surviving are his caretakers Luis and Eloisa Flores of Santa Rosa. Rosary services were conducted on Friday evening from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday monrning at 10:00 From Nuestra Senora de Refugio Church in Puerto De Luna with Father Stephen Schultz officiating. Burial followed at El Calvario Cemtery in Puerto De Luna. Serving as Pallbearers were Raymond Esquibel, Jr., Greg Esquibel, Ken Flores, Max Flores, Jacob Trujillo and Philip Trujillo. All services were entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
