Ola Killough, 91 of Fort Sumner, NM died Sunday, December 1, 2002 at her home in Fort Sumner, NM. She was born May 10, 1911 in Red River County, Texas to the home of Erby Allen Cannon and the former Nancy Louise King. Ola was reared in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, she attended schools at San Jon, NM and near Hobart, OK. She moved to Las Vegas, NM in 1938. Ola ranched for many years in northeast De Baca County. She married Joe Killough in 1933 at Lawton, Oklahoma, he preceded her in death in 1959. She later married Cliff Clark in 1967, he preceded her in death in 1974. Ola was a charter member of Powderhorn Cowbelles, and a charter member of Ranch Friends Club, she was active in the P.T.A. while her son was in school and served as secretary and president of that organization. She enjoyed playing bridge and going to sporting events when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated. Ola was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Sumner. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Along with her two spouses, Ola was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, five sisters, and six brothers. Survivors include a son A. J. Killough and wife Bea of Fort Sumner, NM; three granddaughters Leola Patterson and husband Willie of Fort Sumner, NM; Debbie Morgan and husband J.T. of Odessa, TX; and Jo Beth Killough of Springfield, VA; also surviving are seven great-grandchildren, Hadley Patterson, Travis Morgan, Garrett Morgan, Chris Morgan, Tobea Patterson, Meg Morgan, and Ali Morgan. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Tuesday, December 3, 2002 from the First United Methodist Church in Fort Sumner with Rev. Monty Leavell officiating. Burial will follow in the Killough family plot, Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Willie Patterson, J.T. Morgan, Hadley Patterson, Travis Morgan, Garrett Morgan, Emmett Fallon, and Chris Morgan. The family prefers memorials to the Fort Sumner Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 180; Fort Sumner, NM; or the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, c/o First United Methodist Church in Fort Sumner, NM; or the charity of one’s choice.
