John P. Apodaca

John P. Apodaca, age 73, passed away January 1, 2003 at the Los Amigos Nursing Center in Santa Rosa. John was born September 26, 1929 in Tucumcari to the home of Coronato and Petrita Mora Apodaca. He was reared in Tucumcari. John was a self employed General Contractor in the Tucumcari area for many years. He married Francis Rubio on January 31, 1972 in Tucumcari. John loved to fish, riding motorcycles and being a mechanic. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church. John is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Carmen Trujillo, his brothers Adelaido Apodaca, Charles Aragon, Joe Aragon, his nephews Daniel C. Aragon and Bobby Aragon and his niece Erika Marie Aragon. Survivors include his wife Francis of the Family home in Tucumcari, his children John Paul Apodaca, Jr., of Kansas, Sergio Apodaca of Pecos, Texas, James Apodaca of Deming, NM, Ramona Renteria and husband Manny of Tucucmari, Pamel Becerra of Albuqueruqe and Karmen Apodaca of St. Joseph, MO, his sister Josie Lucero of Socorro, his brothers Rudolfo Aragon of Las Cruces, Florencio Aragon of Tucumcari and Ramon Aragon of Tucumcari. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be conducted on Sunday evening at 7:00 from St. Anne's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 11:00 also from St. Anne's Church with Father Stephen Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at Tucumcari Memorial Park. Serving as Pallbearers will be Manny Renteria, Raul Molina, Jimmy Apodaca, Frank Aragon, Joey Aragon and Ruben Pacheco. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Ramon Aragon Sr., Willie Trujillo, Sr., Rudy Aragon, Paul Ulibarri, Cleo Pacheco, and Florencio Aragon Sr. All services were entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home, 923 South 3rd St., Santa Rosa, NM (505)472-3369. www.chavezfuneralhome.com
