Margueritte M. Cook

Margueritte Cook, 82 a longtime Fort Sumner, NM resident died Monday, November 1, 2004 at Retirement Ranch Care Center in Clovis, NM. Margueritte was born March 7, 1922 in Fort Sumner to the home of Joe and Liccie Bowlin. She was reared and attended schools in Fort Sumner. She married R.J. Cook on December 16, 1939 in Fort Sumner. Margueritte worked alongside her husband in the family businesses in Fort Sumner for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner. Margueritte was preceded in death by her husband R.J. Cook in 2002; her parents; and a brother Joe Bowlin. Survivors include a daughter Brenda J. Stockton and husband Ben of Portales, NM; a son Gary W. Cook and wife Jeri of Clovis, NM; five grandchildren Seth W. Cook M.D. and wife Katrina of Waco, TX; Zachery J. Cook and wife Angie of Ruidoso, NM; Amber C. Brooks and husband Brandon of Albuquerque, NM; Paige N. Cook of Amarillo, TX; and Kasey R. Stockton of Las Cruces, NM; a brother-in-law Kenneth Cook and wife Frances of Moriarty, NM; two great-granddaughters Sydney Brooks of Albuquerque and Julia Montgomery of Ruidoso, NM. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. (M.S.T.) Thursday, November 4, 2004 from the Cook Family Plot in the Fort Sumner Cemetery with Rev. Coy Brewer and Sister Anna Teeter officiating. Pallbearers will include Rusty Cook, Russell Crownover, Alan Crownover, Henry Saiz, Paul Horney, Buddy Cortese, Nick Cortese, and Kenny Cook. Honorary bearers will include F.B. Willis and E.J.
