Elvira Silva, age 87, passed away November 13, 2004 in Santa Rosa following an illness. Elvira was born April 19, 1917 in Puerto de Luna to the home of Amado and Clarita Gonzalez Chavez. She married Juan Silva on July 4, 1938 in Santa Rosa. Elvira was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking and baking. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Juan Silva, 5 year old daughter Isabel Silva, son Johnny Silva, grandchildren, James Sierra and Savannah Lopez, brothers Cristobal Chavez and Arcenio Chavez, sisters Carolina Abeyta and Conrada Page. Survivors include her son Jesus Silva of Santa Rosa, her daughters Isabel Sierra and husband Ray of Santa Rosa, Alicia Tapia and husband George of Albuquerque, Ramona Dodge and husband Manuel of Santa Rosa, her brother Seledon Chavez and wife Juanita of Wichita, KS, Brother in Law Anastacio Silva and wife Lena of Santa Rosa, sister in law Maria Salazar of Roswell. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be conducted on Monday, November 15, at 7:00 PM from St.Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 15, at 10:00 AM from Our Lady of Refuge Church in Puerto De Luna with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at El Calvario Cemetery in Puerto De Luna. Serving as Pallbearers will be her grandsons and Great Grandsons, Phillip Sierra, Robert Sierra, Wayne Tapia, James Cordova, Jr., Phillip Sierra, Jr., Timothy Baca and Michael Tapia. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the rest of her grandchildren. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
