Mary H. Ulibarri passed away early Thursday morning, May 6, 2004 at the Guadalupe County Hospital. She was born September 3, 1906 in Colonias, NM to the home of Manuel and Ascencion Herrera. She was a lifelong parishioner of San Jose Catholic Church in Colonias and Santa Rosa de Lima Parish in Santa Rosa. Rosary services will be conducted on Friday evening at 7:00 from St. Rose Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday at 12:00 PM also from St. Rose Church with Father Anthony P. Bolman officiating. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Luis A. Ulibarri, brothers Benjamin and Cosme, and her sister in law Jessie, an infant brother, her mother and father in law Gabrielita and Valentin Ulibarri, sisters in law Clara U. Chavez, Teresa U. Chavez, and her brother in law Valentin Ulibarri, Jr. Survivors include her son Louie A. Ulibarri and his wife Irene of Espanola, her daughters Carmen U. Garcia of Santa Rosa, Loyola U. Cain and husband Richard of Oxford, Arkansas, Erlinda U. Romero of Las Vegas, NM and Rita U. Peralta of Norwalk, CA. Mary always looked foward to visiting and spending time with her eleven grandchildren, Robyn, Christina, Stephen, Joseph, Sonia, Andrew, Jeanette, Charlie, Christopher, Carlos and Amanda. She loved each and all of her 15 great grandchildren, Travis, Dillon, Logan, Jerica, Ariel, Oniesha, Christopher, Tyler, Brandon, Aaliyah, Jenna, Analysa, Miranda, Matthew and Alex. Also surviving are her sisters in law, Mela Chavez of Clovis an Celina Garcia of Santa Fe, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Mary attended Teachers' College in Silver City and taught school for the Guadalupe County Schools in Colonias and San Ignacio. She was very involved in her children's education as a member of the St. Joseph Guild of St. Rose Catholic School, and an active member of Las Hijas de Maria. She received a certificate of appreciation for her outstanding devotion and untiring assistance as a member and treasurer of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Servign as Pallbearers will be Carlos Romero, Karl Romero, Dennis Gee, Robert Kelly, Christopher Herrera and Joseph Ulibarri. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
