Paul Gonzales

Paul Gonzales, age 51, passed away May 7, 2004 in Albuquerque following a sudden illness. Paul was born June 28, 1952 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Jose S. and Sophie Valverde Gonzales. He was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Paul married Christine Salcido on June 28, 1995. He was a long time cosmetologist, he worked for Los Amigos Nursing Home, La Quinta Inn and a waiter at Route 66 Restaurant. He loved working out, listening to music, collecting memorabilia, joking around and working on his garden. Paul is preceded in death by his mother Sophie Gonzales, his father and step mother Hilario and Lala Chavez, his paternal grandparents Ernest and Mana Chavez, his maternal grandparents Juan Pablo and Luisa Valverde, his father in law Claude Salcido, and his brother in law Robert J.Madrid. Survivors include his wife Christine of the family home in Santa Rosa, his daughter Celestina Blair and husband Jonathan of Colorado, his grandchildren; Jonathan, Christopher and Alyssa, his step-father Jose Gonzales of Rio Rancho, his brother Robert R. Chavez and wife Carol, step brother Larry Chavez, step sister Yolanda Chavez, his mother in law Paula Salcido of Santa Rosa, sisters Carol Trujillo and Manuel Martinez of Belen, Maria Kathy Gallegos of Boulder, CO, brothers; Manuel Gallegos and wife Midgie of Albuquerque, Joseph Gonazales of Rio Rancho, brothers in law; Claude Salcido, Jr., Art Salcido and wife Jeanette all of Santa Rosa, Anthony Salcido and wife Bernadette of Albuquerque, sisters in law, Susan Zamora and husband Andy, Lorise Madrid, Lorena Velasquez and husband Michael all of Santa Rosa. Also surviving is his loving pet dog Princess, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be conducted on Monday evening at 7:00 from St. Rose of Lima Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, at 10:00 AM also from St. Rose Church with Father Hoi Tran officiating. As per Paul's wishes cremation will follow the services. Serving as Pallbearers will be Andres Zamora, Vicente Zamora, Daniel Gonzales, Kenneth Trujillo, Leon Trujillo and Javier Salcido. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be his brother and brothers in law. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home, 923 South 3rd St., Santa Rosa, NM (505)472-3369.
