Roman T. "R.T." Sena, 95 of Fort Sumner, NM passed away at his home, Sunday December 3, 2017 following an illness. He was born August 9, 1922 in Guadalupe, NM. One of ten children born to the home of Jose and Estephanita (Trujillo) Sena. He grew up in Fort Sumner and attended school in Old Town. Roman served in the U.S. Army during World War II with Headquarters 3rd Battalion, 289th Infantry. His military occupation was a Gun Crewman for Antiaircraft 601. Private First Class Roman T. Sena served in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. His decorations and citations include the Victory Medal, American Theater, European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbons, and Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on December 5, 1945. Roman married Faviola Gauna on August 14, 1946 in Fort Sumner. He worked as a carpenter for many years with I.L. and Bessie Boren. The Boren family owned and operated several truck stops and restaurants. R.T. worked constructing and repairing the facilities. He later worked for Bill Carr Lumber Company. R.T. and his brother A.T. Sena worked together as carpenters in the Fort Sumner area for many years. R.T. was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. He enjoyed hanging out with his brothers and friends, having family and friends at his home, and attending family gatherings. R.T. is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Faviola Sena in 2012, three daughters Dolores Ortega, Lucy Roybal, and Jean Chavez, two sons Jesse Sena, and Edward D. Sena, a grandson Mark Ortega, three great granddaughters Alexa Roybal, Yvonne Mary Dunn, and Miranda Marilyn Quintana, a great-grandson Corbin Maxwell-Aragon, . He is also preceded in death by his nine siblings, three sisters Odelia Casaus, Aurelia Lucero, and Alberta Gonzales, six brothers Carlos T. Sena, Salamon T. Sena, Olegario T. Sena, Raymundo T. Sena, Alfonso T. Sena, and Anastacio T. Sena. Survivors include a son Allen Dunn and wife Esther of Fort Sumner, three daughters Ruby Gonzales and husband George of Fort Sumner, Angie Mares and husband Mariano of Roswell, Reba Casaus and husband Rudy of Albuquerque, and a grand daughter he raised Glenda Evans and husband Richard of Albuquerque. Also surviving are 29 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, and 34 great-great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation hours will be Wednesday from 10am to 6pm at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 7pm Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. Mass of christian burial will be celebrated at 10am Thursday, December 7, 2017 from the church with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Gonzales, July Jones, Ashley Howe, B.J. Dunn, Gino Sena, Christian Sena, George Ortega, Larry Roybal, Christopher Chavez, and Jerome Sena.
