Elena D. Madrid

Elena Dodge Madrid (age 92) was born in Puerto de Luna, New Mexico, on January 10, 1925, to the home of Roman Dodge and Amalia (Flores) Dodge. Elena is preceded in death by her Parents, stepmother Manuelita Dodge, brothers, Enrique (Henry) Dodge, George Dodge, Sr., sister, Filomena (Mena) Campos, her husband of 59 years, Narciso Madrid, Sr., three sons, Joe N. Madrid, Frank Madrid and Ernesto “Neto” Madrid, grandson Pedro Baca III, daughter-in law, Anna (Urban) Madrid, sister-in-law Eva Dodge, and brother-in-law Willie Campos. Elena is survived by daughters, Patsy Madrid and Gloria Madrid of Santa Rosa, Toni (Pete)Baca of Bernalillo, NM, and Lorraine Madrid of Puerto de Luna her son Andy (Silvia) Madrid of Santa Rosa. She is also survived by her grandsons who she helped raise Frank (Melissa) Madrid and Martin (Franchesca) Madrid of Puerto de Luna. She is also survived by grandchildren Jeff (Jodie) Madrid, Jeanette (Thomas) Murray, James Madrid, Joanna Madrid, John (Shelly) Madrid, Jeremy Madrid Andrea Madrid, Kathy Aragon and Amanda (Doncell) Baca her great grandchildren, Ryan, Joshua, Joseph, Jaidyn, Martin, Andres, Daniel, Danika, Bianca, Kevin, Alondra, Dane, Bret, Garrett , John and Montana, great great grandchildren, Avoni, Landon, Kaiden, Levi, Chad and Jerrick. Elena is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and relatives who affectionately knew her by grandma Lena or Auntie Nena. Besides being a homemaker and raising her children, Elena was instrumental in the operation of the family ranch/farm in Puerto de Luna. In time of need, she would get on the tractor, irrigate the fields, buck hay, tend to the livestock and perform any other duty to keep the ranch going. Elena really enjoyed gardening, tending to her roses and her flower garden. One of her specialties was canning, making jellies and making tortillas. Besides all these duties, she also worked at the Spanish Inn, Rio Pecos Truck Stop and Holiday Inn Restaurant. Elena’s greatest passion was her family, her grandchildren and all her nieces and nephews. Her happiest moments were when she was surrounded by her family. Elena was an avid Lion fan and enjoyed going to football and basketball games, She also enjoyed watching NFL Games and was a Denver Bronco fan. Elena was a member of the Nuestra Senora de Refugo Catholic Church in Puerto de Luna where she was a member of the Nuestra Senora de Refugo Sacred Heart Society. Rosary services will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 6:00 PM from Nuestra Senora de Refugio Church in Puerto de Luna. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10:00 AM also from Nuestra Senora de Refugio Church with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial will follow at Nuestra Senora de Refugio Cemetery in Puerto de Luna. Serving as Pallbearers will he her grandson and great grandsons.
