Adelaida Maestas

Adelaida Maestas, 90, passed away on September 25, at the Guadalupe County Hospital following an illness. Adelaida was born on June 18, 1927 in Dahlia, NM to the home of Justo and Estella (Castillo) Romo. She was reared and attended schools in Anton Chico. She was a parishioner at San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico. Adelaida was a seamstress, a jack of all trades and was always working on the family ranch tending to the animals or just fixing a fence. She enjoyed watching her novelas and canning fruits and vegetables. Adelaida was preceded in death by her parents and her husband’s Fidel Cordova, Jr. and Carlos Maestas and her son Phillip Cordova. Survivors include her children Sandra Cordova of Anton Chico, Danny Cordova of Anton Chico, Dick Cordova and Deana Clark of Las Vegas, NM, Leroy Cordova and Erica of Albuquerque. Also surviving is her brother Rick Romo and wife Lugie of Anton Chico, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Rosary services will be held on Saturday, September 30, at 9:30 AM from San Jose Church in Anton Chico with Memorial Mass to follow with Father Antonio Mondragon officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at the San Jose Cemetery in Anton Chico. All services for Mrs. Maestas have been entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
