Anelia CdeBaca, age 90, passed away on August 21, at her home in Newkirk. Anelia was born on January 23, 1927 in Puerto de Luna, NM to the home of Francisco and Angelita (Baca) Padilla. She was reared and attended schools in Puerto de Luna. Anelia married Luis CdeBaca on March 6, 1946 at Nuestra Senora de Refugio Church in Puerto de Luna. Anelia and Luis ran a General Store in Newkirk for many years. She had a passion for helping all that were in need. She was always feeding transients that came off the train and were hungry. She was a friendly person and would connect with anyone she would meet. One of her greatest joys was taking care of her special needs daughter Gloria. She and Luis were members of the Pioneer Citizens Center in Tucumcari where they spent countless hours dancing away. She was also a parishioner at St. Anne’s Parish in Tucumcari and Holy Family Church in Newkirk where she was a member of the Altar Society. She enjoyed embroidering, quilting, gardening and spoiling her grandchildren. She loved visiting with her friends and would constantly stay in touch with them. Anelia is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Gloria, her grandchildren Mary Rita Lucero and Jerry Lucero, her brother and sisters Adela Lopez, Frank Padilla, Bonifacio Padilla, Maggie Baca, Candido Padilla, Alfonso Padilla, Cleo Padilla, Tina Lopez and Fina. Survivors include her husband Luis of the family home in Newkirk, her children Rita Lucero of Coppel, TX, Tommy CdeBaca and wife Gail of Albuquerque, Christian CdeBaca and wife Terry of Albuquerque, Joseph CdeBaca and wife Rosa of Artesia and Linda Martinez of Las Cruces. Also surviving are her grandchildren Tammy Lucero, Eric CdeBaca, Carrie Ann Lujan, Chris CdeBaca, Laura Perez, Jon Perez, Aaron Perez, Julie Hamilton, Derek Martinez, Mariah Martinez, Gabrielle Martinez, her great grandchildren, Chase Lucero, Cassandra Perez, Zachary Lara, Cedric Perez, Syann Perez, Sophia Lujan, Leo Lujan, Aralynn Martinez, Madison Perez, Lily Perez, Henry Perez, Presley CdeBaca, Noah CdeBaca, Conner CdeBaca and her great great granddaughter Emma Cortez, her sister Fabiola Aragon of Albuquerque, her brother Luis Padilla of Albuquerque along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Thursday, August 24, at 6:00 PM from St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 25 at 10:00 AM also from St. Rose of Lima Church with Father Christopher Bernabe officiating. Cremation will follow the Mass. Serving as Pallbearers will be Christian CdeBaca, Thomas CdeBaca, Joseph CdeBaca, Eric CdeBaca, Derrek Martinez, Erick Hamilton, Chase Lucero, Chris CdeBaca and Richard Lujan.
