Esther M. Zamora

Esther Marie Zamora, 76 of Fort Sumner, NM passed away Monday, August 7, 2017 at Kindred Hospice in Albuquerque following an illness. Esther was born October 23, 1940 in Fort Sumner, NM the daughter of Miguel and Victoriana (Lopez) Sanchez. She lived in Yeso, NM where she attended school until the 8th grade. She graduated from Fort Sumner High School in 1958. Esther married Pablo Zamora on June 25, 1960 in Fort Sumner. She worked as a house keeper, and homemaker. When her children were older she worked in the cafeteria at Fort Sumner Schools. She loved children and worked for over 20 years as a Special Education Aide at Fort Sumner Elementary School until her retirement in 1991. Esther was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting, fixing puzzles, working in her yard, taking walks, and especially loved caring for and babysitting her grand kids. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Leandro Sanchez, Adolph Sanchez, three sisters Lucy Roybal, Julia Aragon, and Chonita Roybal. Survivors include Pablo Zamora her husband of 56 years of Fort Sumner, two sons Larry Paul Zamora (Alice) of Albuquerque, Randy Zamora (Carol) of Veguita, NM, two daughters Debbie Lucero (Paul), and Angie Williamson (Bobby) both of Fort Sumner. Also surviving is one sister Tina Lopez of Clovis, ten grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. The family requests memorial contributions in memory of Esther to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society. A rosary will be recited at 7pm Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Thursday, August 10, 2017 with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will include her grandchildren Brenton Williamson, Barrett Williamson, Lorissa Spears, Britney Watts, Kyla Zamora, Bree'Anna Lucero, and Ariana Lucero. Honorary bearers will be her great grand kids, Braxton, Bryant, Brooklye, Preston, and Paislee Williamson, Bentley Watts, Tatiana Spears, Clayton and Cade Wilcox, Teagan Campbell, Cayetano Trujillo, Shanee Wilcox, Sonny Wilcox, and Brent Wilcox. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N. Fifth Street, Fort Sumner, NM.
